Welcome

The establishment of the Phelps Family Medicine Residency Program was a labor of great love for the many wonderful and conscientious healthcare leaders who put their collective shoulder to the wheel in order to make this achievement possible.

SCORE ONE FOR FAMILY MEDICINE

The creation of the first family medicine residency in New York since 1995 is a significant, even hopeful sign given the urgent need for more family doctors and other primary care physicians that exists in this country. While this is certainly good news, this must be reinforced with a consistent, broad effort to help correct the huge imbalance in the ratio of primary care physicians to specialists that has resulted in a critical shortage, indeed, a crisis that will likely grow even more severe in the next few years.

Our program is…

Community-Based

Practice in an award winning FQHC and a renowned community hospital. Enjoy scenic Rivertown life just 45 minutes north of New York City by train or car.

Congratulations to Dr. Yiran Yang, recipient of Phelps' Northwell Teacher of the Year award this year! Residents nominated Dr. Yang, a Phelps hospitalist, for the honor and presented her with a plaque as an expression of their gratitude for her teaching.

Yesterday's splinting workshop was informative and fun as always! Thank you to Drs. Seebacher, Planka and Housington for leading and teaching and to Candice Huggins, RN, and our chiefs for organizing the session.... https://t.co/dBdzpfjtKb
